The Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from Coronavirus (COVID-19) has continued to convene in order to track the pandemic, safety measures to protect the public against the disease and ways to curb its spread. Upon studying reports about the current situation of COVID-19 in the Sultanate of Oman, the Supreme Committee noted that the epidemiological curve appeared to be declining. There has also been a decline in the number of daily cases registered in intensive care units (ICUs) and in hospital wards. A decrease in the number of COVID-19 patients has also been reported.
Accordingly, the Supreme Committee has taken the following decisions, which will be enforced from Tuesday, 1 March 2022. First, passengers arriving in the Sultanate of Oman must prove they have taken two doses of the relevant vaccine, while PCR tests are not required. Face masks must only be worn indoors in enclosed areas. Hotels can now operate at 100% capacity. As part of its decision, the Supreme Committee also approved the implementation of direct education at 100% capacity in schools at all levels of study, effective from 6 March 2022, but without prejudice to precautionary health measures.
Despite previously endorsed procedures and safety precautions, the Supreme Committee stresses the importance of continuing to adhere to a 70% attendance capacity at halls, tents and other venues hosting conferences, local and international exhibitions and large public gatherings. The committee reaffirmed its commitment to follow up on local developments and international updates and take appropriate decisions.
